I am an automata maker working primarily in wood creating handcrafted pieces and bespoke commissions.
My work reflects humour though simple movements . Each automaton is unique responding with the materials to produce a beautifully made original outcome. I am influenced by historical craft , folk art objects and my love of animals. The attention to detail results in delightful work.
I was born in Yorkshire and returned teach Design Technology. In 2010 I set up my Hebden Bridge studio and picked up ideas where I left them in the Mid 80's after a BA Hons in Wood Metal Ceramics at Manchester Metropolitan University. When I am not making automata I enjoy knitting, making marmalade and being out on my bike in the beautiful Pennine landscape.
