Wooden People

Based on the historic Jig dolls Mr Jolly Boy I made long time friend Andrea who is  Inspirational in her love of Morris dancing her own jig . Glad to say it joins Andrea at Morris events.

I currently have a Welsh Lady Jig doll in my shop , she is a one of  piece. Dress in traditional Welsh flannel with a flamed maple paddle.

One of my most  favourite figure commissions was to make in wood Catherine Edwards three children. Great fun getting the scale between the children correct and a sense of each character just by turning them on my wood lathe. They are made from Beech with articulated legs so they can sit down.

Wooden peg dolls have always been of interest to me . As a child I loved watching ‘Tottie the Story of a Dolls House’ by Oliver Postgate’.  I decided to buy myself a small wood lathe and teach myself how to turn . One the left is a copy of Tottie for a customer and on the right Miss Walnut  my first figure where I practiced my joints and turning skills. She lives in Spain now.

" Have bought four of Lisa' s automatons so far (Miss Walnut (aka Boni), Horse on wheels (aka Matteo), spinning teacups and a birdhouse) and love them all. Lisa is extremely talented and the uniqueness, quality of all items and her attention to detail on each is exemplary. They are very special items to have in any home and conversation starters for visitors. I thoroughly recommend Lisa's work to anyone."
